Family History

Family History

His personal interest in the field is fueled by his responsibility toward the familial continuation of strong professional figures that left an impact on the industry. In 1932, his great-grandfather Sarwar Jan Khan completed a bachelor’s in Civil Engineering from the University of Sheffield. During his professional career, he took on the prodigious role of chief engineer for the development of West Pakistan. He became a testimony for engineerical marvels on a rudimentary level throughout the country. In 1945, his paternal grandfather, Nadir Durrani, completed his bachelor’s in Civil Engineering from the Muslim University of Aligarh. He later took on the role of chief engineer for various districts across Pakistan. Both figures provided him with the repletion of high standards for his personal trajectory. On top of the professional inspirations, his maternal grandfather, former president of Pakistan Ghulam Ishaq Khan ingrained values of integrity and perseverance.

  • Sustainability, in a broader sense, encompasses the generation

    of a continual process; systems that do not deplete their

    resources but rather increase them. ReD, established in 2017,

    focuses on building sustainable communities by bringing about

    positive social and environmental change on all scales. As a

    body of diverse verticals, ReD is committed to solving the

    unsolved challenges of society that often go unread to redefine

    a better tomorrow. Community engagement, contextual

    realization, and environmental consciousness are embodied

    guiding principles that balance out the policy, design, and built

    realities of ReD. The interrelated verticals highlight the

    multifaceted connections of sustainable design, research, and

    investment; thus increasing the lens through which sustainability

    is embedded into the built and unbuilt environment.

  • With a vision to evolve into a global entity committed to positive

    development and social responsibility, ReD embodies a holistic

    intersection of theoretical and practical takes on sustainability.

    The three verticals create a feedback loop where theoretical

    growth feeds into design ideologies and physically manifests

    through built outputs. The integrated verticals aim to

    consistently evolve towards enhanced scalar connections. From

    advisory discourse to the development of built communities as a

    whole, all amounts and scales of sustainable growth are seen as

    equivalent opportunities for communal betterment. As a holistic

    body, ReD intends to resolve the disconnections between the

    social, built, and natural environments that define communities.

  • By 2030, ReD will have tackled issues regarding infrastructural

    development, climate action, and social injustices to build

    sustainable cities and communities. ReD will expand to teams

    of 100+ employees, working across 5 offices, both nationally

    and internationally; impacting 500,000 lives globally. ReD will

    continue to function as a body that supports the community,

    whether that be through empowering the marginalized members

    of societies or designing urban interventions that facilitate the

    masses. As an organization, ReD is committed to becoming a

    powerhouse for the leaders of the industries of tomorrow. 

    Goals

Collaborations, connections and shared experiences between

the advisors and mentors at ReD has created a strong network

of professionals from various fields and industries. Together,

each advisor and mentor plays a critical role in the creation and

execution of ReD’s vision for excellence. From architects to

Reza Durrani

Founder and Principal Architect of ReD

Reza Durrani, founder and principal architect of ReD, began his

journey of professional duality with the transition of becoming

an architect in addition to a civil engineer.  Upon graduating from

Columbia University with a Master of Architecture, he founded

ReD in the heart of the capital. Through mentorship and

international courses, he honed in on an array of knowledge that

ranged beyond the realm of design. From 2017 to present day,

he has dedicated his career to redefining sustainability through

positive social and environmental change. Today, ReD functions

as a body of verticals that range from theoretical to practical

development.

Nasser Durrani

Nasser Durrani, former Presisdent of SME Bank, began his

professional career as a banker.  Upon graduating from

Peshawar University with a BA degree, he began working in

Abu Dhabi, at the prestigious BCCI bank. From 1979, he

devoted twelve years of his career to BCCI.  In the following

years, he worked at the Crescent Bank in Pakistan. Eventually,

he joined SME bank as SEVP, head of operations and business

development. His drive and dedication led him to ultimately

become bank President from 2012 to his retirement. He became

Chairman and CEO of Pearl Security in 2017, with an aim to

provide world-class security services in the capital and

throughout the country. The company now serves high-net-

worth individuals and acclaimed multinational organizations.

Jehannaz Saifullah-Khan

Jehannaz Saifullah-Khan,  did her Bachelors in Electrical Engi

neering from the prestigious National University of Sciences and

Technology, Islamabad. Her bachelor's degree kindled an

intrigue towards the ideology of energy that aids the climate.

This interest led her academic journey to continue towards a

Master's degree in Sustainable Energy from Imperial College in

London. Upon graduation, she was offered a job at a new smart

energy solution company, SkyElectric. She joined the company

in 2016, serving as the Product Manager. Her rapport and natural

leadership skills led to her promotion as the Director

of Engineering. She now oversees the development of new

products.
